Paul Hollywood ‘s estranged wife Alex has said it’s “her time to shine” after helping the Bake Off star achieve success.
But after her marriage with the baker crumbled in 2017 – four years after his affair with Marcela Valladolid – Alex is ready to move on with new goals and aspirations for her career.
The cookery writer, 56, said she played an key role in his rise to fame, and believes now it’s her turn to do the same for her own career.
She told OK! : “When Paul and I first came back from Cyprus [where they met], we literally had £1,000 and a suitcase. We worked hard together and as a result of that, Paul got The Great British Bake Off and did really well.”
She added: “Through hard graft from both of us, he got to the point where he was so big with Bake Off and now it’s my time to shine. I’m not saying I don’t wish him well, I really hope that he will find happiness.”
Alex, who shares son Joshua with Paul, 53, says she has moved on from the marriage however claims she isn’t planning on dating before their divorce is officially signed off.
The couple split in 2017 after Paul was unfaithful for a second time, this time having a fling with 24-year-old barmaid Summer Monteys-Fullam, who he’s now split from.
When asked if she’s dated since their split three years ago, Alex revealed: “I’m not properly divorced yet so I want to get that over with first… I have divorce fatigue.
“I just want it over with so I can reassess how I’m going to live my life and find out who I want to be.”
Appearing on Loose Women last month, Alex opened up about life after Paul.
She said: “Life is good actually. Life is good. It’s been, it has been a difficult couple of years actually. It has been tough. But anybody going through divorce is going to understand that.”
She added: “It’s horrendous. Divorce is horrible. It’s a really hard, sad thing to go through and you’ve got to go all the way through from start to finish and get through but you do come out the other side.”
And Paul has previously revealed to us how his own cheating took a toll on his family, saying: “It’s my fault. I am very sad about what has happened. I do feel very sad about it and what it brought on the family.”
