As the scenes unfolded, an irritated watcher penned: “If what I have read in reports is actually going to happen I will not be watching anymore. The lowest of the low #corrie #coronationstreet.”

Monday’s episode saw new parents Chesney and Gemma struggle with juggling their four little ones.

Gemma was in need of some rest and Chesney instructed her to have a nap whilst he headed out to the shops.

After Chesney left their home, exhausted Gemma took a kip with the quadruplets- Bryn, Cleo, Carys and Aled – in the bedroom beside her.

Viewers then saw the letterbox swing open as the flames were pushed inside and rapidly spread throughout the house causing the babies to cough and splutter as smoke engulfed the place.

Abi Franklin put out the flames

In the second episode of the night viewers saw Chesney return home to see flames licking up the front door.

As he shouted for help Abi Franklin spotted the commotion across the road and rushed to help with a extinguisher in tow.

Gemma made her way downstairs after being woken by Chesney’s shouting just as Abi successfully stoped the fire.

As the fire brigade and ambulance arrived on the street and the babies were taken to hospital.

Later at the hospital Chesney lashed out at Gemma’s mum Bernie for being a vigilante and blamed her for bringing trouble to their door after she lured Kel to the park by pretending to be a 14-year-old boy.
